How We Reach Out:
The acolyte is essential for a smooth worship service. This program serves as an important way to get our youth involved in worship.
Responsibilities:
- At the start of the service, after announcements, light the candles on the communion table
- Return to the sanctuary before the final hymn
- During the final hymn extinguish the candles on the communion table
- Stand by the pastor until the last verse of the final hymn and to process with the pastor to the center sanctuary doors
Acolyte Coordinator:
- Schedule Acolytes for both services
- Mail out schedules twice a year
- Recruit and train new Acolytes
- Schedule training as needed
- Clean Acolyte robe as needed
Time Requirements:
Acolytes usually serve twice a year at one of the services, arriving 10 minutes before the service to be robed and check the candle lighter.
Training:
Training is provided by the Acolytes Coordinator.
Qualifications and Special Skills:
Acolytes should be 8 to 12 years old and enjoy participating in the service.
