Monthly Adult Discussion Group
Please join us for our first Adult Discussion Group on Wednesday, September 5th, and on each first Wednesday of the month thereafter. Pastor Jim Zazzera will moderate our discussions on the book, The Jesus I never knew, by Philip Yancy.
In this book Philip Yancey reveals the real Jesus beyond the stereotypes, revolutionizing the reader's passion for Christ. It offers a new perspective on the life of Christ and his work - his teachings, his miracles, his death and resurrection - and ultimately, who he was and why he came. The author effectively relates gospel events to the world we live in today. TheJesus I Never Knew presents a moving and refreshing portrait of the central figure of history. Yancy looks at the radical words of this itinerant Jewish carpenter and asks whether we are taking him seriously enough.
Our study will include reading, video clips and discussion.
If you are interested in joining us, you may sign up on Sunday, August 12th and 26th in the narthex, following both services. Books will be available for sale. ALL ARE WELCOME.
How Doth Your Garden Grow?
If it doth prosper and you have a surplus of squash or other vegetables, bring them to church on Sunday and Betty Park will get them to Food Closet.

We also thank Don Sperling, Finance Elder, Debbi Kanner, Pledge Secretary, and Bill Baker, Treasurer, for their outstanding work in helping with the financial operations of Faith Presbyterian Church. Our church continues to have a strong financial foundation because of their efforts.

The New Mental Pick-Me -Up
Mentally challenging tasks require you to be "on". When your brain is stuck on
"off" here's what to do:
Skip the trip to the local java joint. Just get moving instead. Walk, run, skip, skate,
jump rope, or dance for 30 minutes. The benefits: You'll think more quickly
and experience less frustrations when you return to your work.
Double-shot espressos aside, there's nothing like a little cha-cha-cha
to get your brain going rah-rah-rah!! Exercise goes one better by helping to
burn calories, too.
Exercise boosts brain function by ramping up blood flow, so oxygen and
nutrients get around to all parts of your body better, including your brain.
Exercise stimulates the release of mood-boasting endorphins and eases
anxiety and depression. It can help improve your sleep.
Exercise helps keep your blood pressure in check.
Exercise builds muscle, promotes flexibility, makes bones stronger, and
helps relieve muscle tensionSunday, October 14, 2007 ~ 4:00 pm
